Following from my last blog we are still trekking through our wik! The group and I have evolved our wiki into a paradise for learners (who wish to explore education 10 years ago). We have recently revamped our wiki with slick videos and fancy pictures! I feel we worked well as a group as we gave each over individual subjects to talk about. We then took total control of our pages and added pictures and videos which we feel fit well into our subject! Overall i am pleased with our wiki and hope for it to grow over the future! Home again!
As we arrive back after a stressful research week, we begin to reflect on the week gone by. But how much does a student really do on a research/reading week? From a personal point of view I tried to attack all my pieces of work, but it’s so tempting to leave it to next week, ‘it won’t take that long do it the night before’. But that can be dangerous, it can put you under a lot of stress and lead to a lack of sleep which will affect you in the day ahead.
For my vis com module we were given a task to create a free wiki on the subject of ‘What was education like 10 years ago’. As a group we decided to write on individual topics. We started the wiki by creating a folder, having a front page then individual pages which you can navigate from the front page. But as it happens so many time when working in a group there was a lack of communication, this ended up in two of us writing on the same topic! But we overcame this by talking/arguing over who was doing what. We overcome it and I’m happily able to say we have a successful wiki! If you wish to view please click the link below.

Jaws!
In last weeks seminar we were given a group task to investigate a subject that we all found relatively interesting, then present the webpage to the class. We decided to look up the fascinating life of the shark! We decided to look at separate web pages, that way we will have a wider range of options to pick from. We eventually went for enchantedlearning.com/subjects/sharks/. We went for this website because it looked a bit dodgy in places, the illustrations looked very childlike, as if some one had created them on Microsoft Paint. But as we dived a bit deeper using ‘site:’ and our investigative minds we found out the side was very much legit, only that the site was created in 1998 and looked as no one had touched it since. Another interesting fact is that the copy write of the website finished in 2010 so the information is free to take haha!

"You will never reach your goal until you start to take action, any action."--Byron Pulsifer
Well, well, this is the start of the new generation of bloggers. My name is Christian James, I am currently studying Education Studies at Swansea Metropolitan University, I can only imagine what your thinking? ‘why is a good looking boy like yourself in uni?’ Well as you asked I will go ahead and tell you this wild story.
I was a young lad studying my A levels at Morriston Comp but I had enough, I was fed up, I needed some money to fund my life style of p-a-r-t-y. So I left and went to find work in a local office being an office junior. In April of that year (2010) I was part of a group trip to Nepal to walk up Everest Base Camp, there I met a teacher and he told me about how awesome his job is and how much he loved teaching the children and the life style he has around his job. Then I had a thought, I didn’t want to work 9-5 in an office all my life, so I thought bugger it and I packed it in, and went ‘Back to school, Back to school, to prove to Dad that I'm not a fool’ (Billy Madison) and finish my A levels. During this time I applied to a number of different job opportunities. I successfully got a job working for the National Autistic Society as a relief support worker which I found thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding. I was successful enough in my A levels to go on the BA (Hons) Education Studies course at Swansea Met. That is the story of how I have got here.
Hopefully this course will set me in good foundations to be able to achieve my goal of becoming a primary school Teacher.
